Vampire Hunters of Our Times

A Vampire hunter is a character in folklore and fiction who specializes in finding and destroying vampires and sometimes other supernatural creatures. This should be someone who has knowledge about vampires and other monstrous creatures. They are humans with more than average knowledge about the occult while others are supernatural beings having superhuman abilities. They were usually born on Saturday and it was believed that someone born on a Saturday could see a vampire when it was otherwise invisible. Novels like Dracula show works of vampire hunters.

10. Scooby Gang from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

In the intriguing top ten vampire hunters, Scooby Gang from Buffy the Vampire Slayer is position 10. These characters in the television series and comic book battle supernatural forces of evil. The team consists of Buffy Summers and her friends and colleagues who assist her in her duties as the slayer. This group was also called the slayerettes. They took an unimpressed flippant attitude towards extraordinary events and supernatural occurrences. Buffy often had to protect her friends from monsters but over the course of the series most of them gained superpowers and fighting skills of their own with Xander the only notable member with no mystical abilities or connection to the supernatural.

9. Robert Morgan from the Last Man on Earth

In the intriguing top ten vampire hunters, Robert Morgan from the Last Man on Earth is position 9. This is a 1964 science fiction horror film based on the Richard Matheson/ Am Legend. The film was directed by Ubaldo Ragona and Sidney Salkow and stars Vincent Price. It was filmed in Rome, Italy with some location shots taken at Esposizione Universale Roma. It was released theatrically in the United States by American International Pictures and the UK in 1966. In 1971 the story was remade as “The Omega Man “with Charlton Heston in the Vincent Price role. “The Omega Man “seems over-the-top compared to this more modest effort and Price does an excellent job of making the bleakness look real and appropriate.

8. Blade from the Blade Trilogy

In the intriguing top ten vampire hunters, Blade from the Blade Trilogy is position 8. The blade films are based on the fictional Marvel Comics character of the same name portrayed by Wesley Snipes. In the comic, Blade’s mother was bitten by a vampire while she was in labor with Blade. Thus, Blade was born as a dhampir, a human with vampire genes. Mears is the protagonist of Steven King’s 1979 novel Salem’s Lot , which uses horror to turn the tired cliché of the ‘tragic love story’ into something bold and belligerent. When vampires run the show, there can only be one ending: calamitous catastrophe and as master storyteller, King is the expert of all things experientially cataclysmic. The players in the game of ‘tragic romance’ are often described as hopeless victims of fate. In Salem’s Lot Stephen King does afflict Ben and Susan with an iota of ‘star crossed lover’ syndrome and Ben Mears is also existentially apportioned the seemingly inescapable title of small town savior. But within the bounds of fate’s prescriptions Mears has a choice, albeit a choice enveloped in tragedy no matter the path chosen. In a confrontation with destiny, Ben Mears makes his choice and becomes a tragic and reluctant hero.

When Master Vampire Valek (Thomas Ian Griffith) decimates Jack’s entire team, Crow and sole team survivor, Montoya (Daniel Baldwin), set out in pursuit. 6. Burt Reynolds

The near death experience of Burt Reynolds wasn’t that common, though the main cause was drug related still nothing is more terrifying that being near to death.  Reynolds experiences an injury that leads him to take some pain killer. Unconsciously this prescribed medicine has an addicting effect, making Reynolds addicted to this pill. When trying to get clean, Reynolds experiences a coma for more or less than 8 hours. The doctors even stated that some of his friends and family members are told to bid goodbye.  He felt that he was ready to leave his body, go beyond the light, but again if it is not your time, then it will not happen.

5. Ozzy Osbourne

One of the legends in the music industry has been addicted to drugs and had near death experiences. His experience started when he was in a vehicular accident. His accident was one of the most severe things that could happen to you. He catapulted himself along the hill with his bike landing on him. Ozzy was thankful that his bodyguard rescued him and performed CPR everytime he was not breathing. He was rushed to the hospital, in a coma for eight days. Though he confirmed there was a bright light in times of darkness, he didn’t see angels. That point he realized that when will be the right time to grow up, if not now when will it be. After that incident Ozzy Osbourne’s life was all changed.

4. Jane Seymour

Among all types of accident that can cause a near death experience, Jane Seymour’s case was different and rare. It is because the accident wasn’t caused by her or a disease but because of a malpractice done by medical personnel. She was admitted for flu but unfortunately a nurse made a mistake in administering a medication Instead of intramuscular, the antibiotic was injected into her veins, making the antibiotic circulate whole through her body leading to her shock. The signs of NDE were there, a bright shining light, but Jane was sure that she wasn’t ready yet and there are so many things she needs to do.

3. Donald Sutherland

Maybe it is quite true that in order to be alive you need to be dead first. That’s what explained Donald Sutherland’s near death experience. Donald had a very serious and deadly spinal meningitis, which leads him to a comatose state. Though you are in a coma, science believes that your sense of hearing will not be gone. That is why Donald stated that during this time he heard his producer and friends about his internment and his life after this. He also felt like floating above his body surrounded by bright shiny lights. He glides down a long tunnel back to his body and learns from his doctor that before he woke up, he was dead.

2. Tony Bennett

Unlike others, Tony Bennett wasn’t that famous when he experienced his NDE. Instead, he had it after learning things about life and death. Tony was an addict, had a failing marriage and several debts. Because of this failure Tony decided to overdose himself to end his problem. An action that might have destroyed everything related to him. With cocaine and weeds he was soaked in a bathtub at that time he saw a clear yellow light. Eventually he realized that it needs this type of experience to fully understand what life is. Tony then fixes everything in his life, his marriage and career. He became a better person after a near death experience.

1. Elizabeth Taylor

In the mid 50’ Elizabeth Taylor went to surgery and suffered complications and was later on pronounced dead. That is the time where she saw a tunnel with a bright light, and later on she saw her third husband Mike Todd who is already dead because of the plane crash. What makes death tempting is that you will see people who are very important to you that are now gone in this world. Their role can be either of the two, take you with them or tell you to go back. Todd told Elizabeth that it isn’t yet her time, that she has so many things to do. By the time Elizabeth woke up Todd was gone and all she sees are the eleven people of her surgical team.

10 worst school shootings happened in US

We often think of schools as havens for children of all ages, including adults. The word “school” came from the Greek word skho-le, meaning “leisure”. However, the use of the word ‘leisure’ here does not simply indicate a pleasure time or time for enjoyment. It talks about enjoying a pleasurable time for the purpose of learning. And when we go back to ancient Greece, it shows that only those belonging to the privileged class are the ones who get to enjoy the leisure to learn. To reiterate, parents would normally do all they can to send their children to school so as to get the basic and additional knowledge essential in life. So basically, we can see from the picture here that schools should be peaceful. Unfortunately, there are bunches of reports about school shootings and this is really a serious problem, let alone freakish nowadays. What’s so disturbing about these reports is that the perpetrator is usually a student or a youth. Just what seems to trigger such actions? Some of these youths were evidently victims of bullying, discrimination, and injustices, while there are a few isolated cases of diagnosed mental illnesses. Everyday attacks and insults from other schools or classmates enrage such ones thus resulting in the outburst. It simply shows that as time passes by, everyday distresses increase. Listed below are the top ten worst school shootings that happened in US history.

10. Northern Illinois University – 2008 -6 Victims

The massacre happened in the lecture Hall of Northern Illinois University on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 3:06 p.m. The gunman, who was identified as Steven Kazmierczak, 27, was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. He was carrying several weapons with him. It was reported that four died, including the shooter, in the hall where the shooting happened, while two died in the hospital. All in all, the police recovered 48 bullet casings and 6 shotgun shells. As to the motive of the killer, it was not determined. He was said to be a student of that same school asking for graduate sociology. But some have observed that he was acting “erratically” probably because he stopped taking his medications.

9. Amish School shooting – 2006 – 6 Victims

On October 2, 2006, an unforgettable incident happened. Charles Carl Roberts IV, a milk truck driver who was delivering milk to the local community shot five school girls, between the ages of 6-13, and then himself. It was reported that 9 years prior to this shooting, Charles’ daughter died after just living for 20 minutes. This struck him so much that it made him get angry at God. He was even heard saying: “I’m angry at God and I need to punish some Christian girls to get even with him.” This staged the plot. He had with him ten girls, tied their hands and afterwards started shooting them.

8. California State University Shooting At Fullerton – 1976 – 7 Victims

It happened on Wednesday, July 12, 1976, in the California State University, Fullerton. The shooter who was identified as Edward Charles Allaway, 37, killed seven people in the basement of the school library. He was said to have been working there as a library custodian. It was found out that Allaway was diagnosed to have paranoid schizophrenia. What provoked him though was that pornographic movies were being played by library staff members before opening the library. Before then, he was thinking that pornographers were forcing his wife to stage those movies. These thoughts, along with what’s happening in the library enraged him so much that resulted in the killings of those people.

7. Oikos University Shooting – 2012- 7 Victims

The incident happened in Oikos University, a Korean Christian school in Oakland, California on April 2, 2012. The killer was identified by the name One L. Goh, 43 years old. Upon digging his background, it was found that he was a dropped out student who complained about the cheating that was happening. Despite having dropped out, Goh did not receive his tuition refund of $6,000. This angered him so much that on the said date of the killing, he appeared in the school, apparently looking for Wonja Kim, Oikos’ assistant director of nursing then, but to no avail not until it was reported that he had been firing his gun.  He is currently at Napa Hospital, having his treatment for paranoid schizophrenia.

6. Red Lake Senior High Massacre – 2005 – 8 Victims

On March 21, 2005, around 2:50 p.m., a shooting spree happened in Red Lake Senior High School where Jeffrey Weise, 16, shot seven people, apart from his grandfather and his grandfather’s girlfriend whom he had killed on that same day. The motives of his actions were his depression and the experience of being bullied. It was reported that Weise was seen smiling as he waved the gun he was holding. He exchanged gun shots with police officers until he was hit in the right arm and abdomen. He then went to a vacant classroom where he committed suicide. The weapons that he used were his grandfather’s, which he took right after he shot him.

5. Columbine – 1999 – 15 Victims

The perpetrators Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, who were dressed in trench coats started shooting the students of Columbine High School in Denver. It happened on April 20, 1999 around 11:20 a.m. Investigators found out that these two teenagers were originally planning to detonate their school. At 11:10 a.m., these two went to the cafeteria where they left two duffel bags containing 20-pound propane bomb. But since the detonation failed, they decided instead to shoot fellow students. There were speculations that these two were bullied because of being members of Trenchcoat Mafia. After shooting all of their victims, they killed themselves.

4. University of Texas Massacre – 1966 – 16 Victims

Charles Whitman, 25, an architectural engineering major and ex-Marine shot dead 13 people including his mother and his wife on the same date- August 1, 1966. He climbed to the top of the University of Texas Tower where he aimed his gun as he eyed all of the people. He was said to be firing at these people randomly. Prior to this incident, Whitman had a remarkable background. He was known to be polite and very smart. What probably led to his actions were his frustrations. In 1963, he started documenting everything that happened in his life, including his failings and frustrations. He was shot dead by an Austin police officer.

3. Sandy Hook Elementary – 2012 – 28 victims

On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza, 20, shot 28 people, including him. The mass killing happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School at around 9:35-9:40 a.m. Prior to Lanza’s attack on the school, he killed his mother at their house. And the rifle that he used was reported to be owned by his mother. This incident was not seen to be coming by the people around Connecticut since the school has just upgraded their security protocols. Among those who were shot dead in the school were twenty children, from ages 6-7, and six adults. The motive of the killing was not determined, although the perpetrator’s father said that his son was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, and could probably suffer from undiagnosed psychopathy.

2. Virginia Tech – 2007 – 33 Victims

The shooting that happened in Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007, was considered to be the deadliest in U.S. history. The gunman was identified as Seung-Hui Cho, 23. He was a senior student studying at Virginia Tech, majoring in English. He was born in South Korea, and later on received his American citizenship. The shooting happened in two buildings- first in Ambler Johnston Hall and next in Norris Hall, both found within the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. All in all, Cho killed 33 people: five faculty staff, twenty seven students, and himself. This was the worst shooting ever since it was done by just a single gunman. After the killings, investigators found out that Cho suffered from depression.

1. The Bath School Disaster of 1927 – 45 Victims

The disaster happened on May 18, 1927 at Bath Township, Clinton County in Michigan. The perpetrator was identified as Andrew Kehoe. When investigated upon, it turned out that his motive in this bombing was to seek revenge for not being elected in the locality. Adding up to that was his stress over his finances, not to mention the taxes that he has to pay. When residents were asked about his behaviors, they described Kehoe as stubborn and impatient. Around 8:45 a.m., the bomb that Kehoe set in his house and in the basement of the north wing of the school detonated. A total of 45 people were killed, including Kehoe and his wife, and 58 people were reportedly injured during the bombing.

10 Foolish Ideas to Make Quick Money Illegally

by Marc De Laria 29.04.2022
written by Marc De Laria

Greed is innate of man. Some may disagree with this, but even selfless individuals have varying degrees of greed in them. The difference among men is how they control their negative characteristics. We all have been given the free will so we can decide which path to take. Unfortunately, not all men have been guided properly to choose and do what is right and just.

It has been said over time that money is the root of all evil. However, common sense tells us that money is just an object and we, creatures of intellect, are supposed to be wise enough not to be slaves of wealth. Still, this is not always the case.

For quite some time now, our society has been plagued with various schemes that guarantee big profits in no time. More often than not, and sadly enough, these quick money-making businesses are those deemed illegal. What’s even sadder is that, over the years, a number of people still fall victim to those deals despite widespread media exposure. Moreover, perpetrators take advantage of people from the rural areas, because they are the ones who have limited access to resources that would make them aware of such illegitimate businesses.

Scamming

Scamming, in general, is cheating, swindling or doing fraudulent business.

At the height when these crimes were committed, a victim, most of the time a house help, was made to believe that his/her boss was in peril and that he/she was apparently instructed by his/her boss to give all cash and valuables on hand to a certain person. Thieves would really sound convincing and urgent over the phone, enough to make them believable that the victim would not think of checking first if the news was indeed true. Sometimes, the victim would check with the boss right after the transaction and find out that it was all a scam. Sometimes, the victim would be surprised when the boss comes home after work. Everything though is too late for the valuables to be handed to the thieves.

ATM Skimming

Almost all business transactions recently have been done online. From giving out salary to paying bills to shopping, online banking has become almost a necessity. However, there are still transactions that require consumers to pay in cash so consequently, withdrawing through an automated teller machine is necessary.

ATM skimming rose in the 21st century, when technology made it possible to steal money quietly. Thieves employ concealed card readers to copy all the personal details of the user from the magnetic strip of the card. To be able to know the PIN, thieves mount cameras giving a full view of the keypad. Another way of getting the user’s PIN is the use of a fake keypad that they put on top of the real keypad. After all these are done, they create a clone of the user’s card and now have full access to his/her money.

Donation Scam

Charity is also being taken advantage of by people who let greed run their lives. The simplest form of generosity being abused is when a certain individual goes person to person, handing out a solicitation letter for some cause. More often than not, people will no longer check if such a cause is legitimate, especially if they will only dole out a small amount of money. However, if more people will be fooled by such, naturally, the small amount they donate will add up to a big amount.

Over the years, donation scams go up to the establishment of fake charitable institutions to be able to solicit money from well-known people (celebrities and politicians) and big companies as well.

Kidnap for Ransom

Kidnap for ransom, or taking a person against his will in exchange for money or other form of compensation, became rampant in the early 21st century. Crime syndicates involved in this kind of business take their time in studying a target’s schedule, until his/her routine is established and a plan is made around it. Usual targets are business people and their loved ones, usually kids, as they are easier to hoodwink and carry when needed.
Negotiations for ransom see the abductors resorting to blackmail to ensure that the victim’s family do not involve the police. Out of fear, naturally, the family, especially when able, will just give what the abductors ask for in exchange for their loved one’s freedom.

Blackmail

Blackmail, like many other things, has also become a part of our everyday life. In its simplest form of using serious or non-serious threats to get what we want, it has become a form of negotiation that people employ most of the time.

Parents use it to make young children eat vegetables or take naps or behave, for example.

Negatively, blackmail is also used to extort money. Common victims are well-known people like politicians and celebrities who are inclined to do anything to uphold their reputation. Taking advantage of this, thieves would either search for a target’s dark secret, or would fabricate one to make sure the target will agree to whatever they ask for just for the information to be contained.

Fake Freelance Jobs

With the advancement of technology giving way to various opportunities to work from home, more people, especially mothers with little children to take care of, try their luck in several freelance jobs online. There are a lot of sites to join in, with minimal fees to cover the security of each transaction.

Some people, in search of bigger income, take risks in entering transactions with no assurance of security. Even with websites that are supposed to be secure, there are still fake employers lurking who take advantage of newbie freelancers especially. The most common form of getting victimized by fake freelance jobs is doing what was posted on the job application and not getting paid afterwards.

Drugs

For a long time now, illegal drugs have been a major problem in every society. No matter how people are made aware of their destructive effects on the body, they always find their way into families, encompassing all age groups and social status.

It is sad that nowadays, even those who live in the slums, with no food to eat sometimes, could afford drugs and become sellers as well. What’s worse is that those who are entrusted to ensure that these illegal drugs are disposed of and kept from the people are the same ones who protect the drug syndicates that distribute these stuff.

Fake Prize Bonds

The continuous progress of technology did not only bring about beneficial outcomes. It has also been used in perpetrating crimes that bank on people’s greed to succeed. One of these is sending out electronic mails informing the receiver that he/she won a huge amount from some raffle of a big company. The proof of the prize, bearing the official letterhead of the company and apparently signed by the designated person, is sent to the receiver and it is carefully made so that the receiver will be convinced that it is indeed a legitimate raffle prize. There is a catch though. The receiver is then asked to pay for a certain amount, which when compared to the alleged prize money seems like pocket change. Because of this, a lot of people have become victims of this scam.

Impostor Scam

Identity theft is not something new nowadays. It has even become more progressive with the advancement of technology.

Until now, there are still credit card owners who get surprised by unknown transactions billed on their accounts. Apparently, crime syndicates coerce people from the post office so they can get hold of credit cards instead of the real owners. Since credit cards are pre-activated already and most establishments don’t require identification with each credit card use, it became so easy for these crooks to make purchases on the stolen cards. In case of an identification check, they prepare counterfeit identification cards as well to present to the cashier.

Another form of this impostor scam that has been happening lately is one where the impostor asks for a replacement SIM card with the same number as the old SIM. Naturally, the old SIM that is with the owner will get deactivated and the impostor can gain access to the owner’s e-mails and bank accounts. He now has the power to change all the passwords and enable transfer of money online.

Facebook

The influx of various social media sites brought a big impact not only on how people got connected with friends and relatives, but also in giving entrepreneurs and small business owners a wider reach for their products and services. Of all the sites, Facebook is still admittedly the most popular and widely used. However, like all the others, Facebook is no exception to being used for bad purposes as well.

While Facebook became a haven of trusted online shops, it has also become a platform for bogus buyers and sellers to flourish. Scammers included sellers who, after receiving payment for goods they apparently sell, would not ship out the items paid for or would ship out wrong items. There were also sellers who fell victim to scamming buyers. Those who do not have online access to their bank accounts would just rely on images of the deposit slips sent by their buyers. Little do they know that these deposit slip images could have been edited and by the time they shipped the items out, they would find out that no deposit had indeed been made.

These cases are not only common on Facebook, but on other social networking sites as well. It is important to do further research before entering into transactions to avoid being victims of scammers.

Stoner AR-15

Stoner AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle made in the United States.  Designed by Eugene Stoner, this Stoner AR-15 came from various versions already.  They all come with identical designs but with distinct accessories.  Mr. Stoner became famous when he created this Stoner AR-15 and thus known as one of the most successful firearm developers.  There are some issues though between the two rifles AR-15 and AK-47.  But when it comes to its weight, the AR-15 is much lighter.  It’s just that the AK-47 is easy to use but the AR-15 is superior in weight, length, and ease of handling.  And when you ask about the durability, it is a winner!
